Wayne County man is acquitted in death of his son, who drank drain cleaner in meth house

BOWLING GREEN — A Wayne County man was not responsible for the gruesome death of his 20-month-old son, who drank drain cleaner allegedly used to make methamphetamine, a jury ruled Friday.

The jury acquitted Bryan Daniels, 22, of murder in the May 30, 2009, death of his son Kayden, as well as an alternate charge of second-degree manslaughter.

After deliberating nearly seven hours, the jury also found Daniels not guilty on charges of endangering Kayden and of being involved in a criminal syndicate to produce meth.

Circuit Judge Vernon Miniard Jr. earlier ruled Daniels not guilty on a charge of making meth.

Daniels and members of his family and defense team, led by Somerset attorney Mark Stanziano, burst into tears and hugged when Miniard announced the verdict. Daniels has served 44 months in jail or on house arrest since Kayden died and faced a sentence of 20 years to life if convicted of murder. Instead, he left the courthouse a free man nearly four years after his son’s death. Daniels was tried in Warren Circuit Court in Bowling Green because a jury could not be seated in Wayne County.

Daniels said the first thing he plans to do is visit Kayden’s grave, which he has never seen.

“I’m very happy, very happy,” Daniels said. “Kayden was with me today. He knowed I wouldn’t do nothing to hurt him.”

Daniels said he has a job lined up remodeling restaurants in Indiana, and he said he will try to improve his life.

Daniels said he shouldn’t have been charged with causing his son’s death.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Matthew Leveridge had no comment on the verdict.

However, he said he will prosecute three others charged in connection with Kayden’s death. They are Danny Anderson Jr. and James Hunt, who allegedly made meth in the bedroom of the small mobile home where Kayden lived and are charged with murder, and Larry Branham, who rented the trailer and allegedly facilitated the crimes.

Horror as man ‘suffocated pregnant girlfriend, 17, by sitting on her head after deliberately crashing car at 100 mph’

A 19-year-old Pennsylvania man intentionally slammed his car at 100 mph into a guardrail, and then smothered his 17-year-old girlfriend by sitting on her head after learning that she might be pregnant, according to police.

Police filed homicide and other charges last week against Benjamin Daniel Klinger, 19, of Elizabethtown, for the December 4 death of Sammi Heller on an interstate near Manheim.

‘At first glance, this appeared to be simply another tragic vehicle accident,’ Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman told the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era. ‘However, the police worked hand-in-hand with our forensic experts and saw this was far more complicated, sinister and certainly criminal.’

The bizarre and tragic incident unfolded at around 2am on Route 283 in Ralpho Township when police say Klinger rammed his Toyota sedan into a guardrail, and then proceeded to smother his girlfriend.

Heller, a senior at J.P. McCaskey High School, was described in her obituary as athletic and a lover of motorcycles and horses. According to court documents, the 17-year-old and Klinger had a rocky on-again, off-again relationship.

She allegedly told a friend that Klinger previously tried to scare her while driving and that he had threatened to kill them both in a crash. Click here for full article written and published by Dailymail.co.uk

The Stalking Murder of Mindy Schloss

ImageViewMindy Schloss was 52 in the Summer of ’07 and a popular, ambitious nurse psychologist. The happy, dark-haired woman was attractive and when she smiled her eyes reflected her happiness. In the weeks prior to her murder, she had been making good on plans for the next stage of her career. After spending the majority of her working life laboring for others — and commuting long distances to Fairbanks, Alaska — she had recently signed a lease for an office in Anchorage. She was going to start her own practice and become her own boss, accomplishments that would have also benefited the citizens of Fairbanks. People with her expertise were, after all, rare in those parts. Sadly, Mindy Schloss would not live to realize her longtime dream of professional independence.

Joshua Wade, resided at 6902 Cutty Sark Road, the house next door to her own. He was already, in his own mind, living intimately with her, watching her, fostering a sexual rage and waiting to take that intimacy to the next, deadly level. His bedroom window allowed him voyeuristic access to Schloss’ kitchen and, as a result, it’s safe to assume that Joshua Wade’s watched Schloss going about her daily domestic routine as his life spun ever more wildly out of control, and that his sexual frustration, anger, and violent, lethal rage settled on Schloss.

Rewinding back to Wade’s earlier years, he spent most of his life in detention centers and when he wasnt in a detention center he was being arrested (then released) for one crime or another.

According to documents introduced into evidence by the prosecution, Wade “has demonstrated violent and aggressive behavior from on or about the age of 10 and continuing into his adult life, and between 2000 and 2007, has violently killed two women.” Wade’s first brush with the law was at age 12. At 16 he was caught carrying a handgun, and by 19 he was an accused-but-acquitted felon. Unfortunately Wade’s criminal career was only getting started.

The next year, at age 20, Wade violently raped and murdered Della Brown, a 33 year-old Native American woman by bashing her head in with a rock. When he was through, all that was left of Schloss was decomposing in the woods near Wasilia, Alaska.

Della-BrownDuring the trial the coroner testified that Brown’s skull was so damaged it resembled a “bag of ice.” Brown’s hair had either been cut or ripped out; and burnt matches littered the shed’s floor near her body. Brown’s body had been found by unsympathetic gawkers who paraded through the shed for days, lighting matches to see her battered corpse. No one called 911. Although initially Wade confessed to the murder, he soon recanted. His lawyer claimed that Wade had merely been trying to impress his associates.

The jury was swayed by his defense, and Wade was acquitted of Della Brown’s murder. He was, however, convicted of evidence tampering in the case.

After the acquittal, Wade, who has the unfortunate tendency to grandstand, stated, “Even though 12 people said I’m not guilty, everyone believes I am guilty….I just want to say thank you to my jury for being fair.”

He went on to say, “The only thing at all in this case that I’m sorry for is I did not call the police whenever I found that lady’s body,” clearly showing no remorse for the crime of which he had been convicted.

Fast-foward to the night of August 3rd, 2007. Wade turn’s his sick fantasy into reality.

Wade and his housemates threw a party. This was the end of a long, difficult week at work for Wade. He had several combative exchanges with his supervisors, and had even gone so far as to walk off of the job. The day of the party Wade arrived at his job only to be sent home for his argumentative and aggressive behavior.

Sometime around 1:30 a.m. Mindy Schloss signed out of her email and shut down her computer. According to the timeline established by investigators, she then went to sleep. Not long after, Wade made his way into Schloss’ home, subdued her, and painfully bound her arms and legs with plastic restraints, zip ties commonly used by law enforcement. With Schloss immobilized, Wade returned to his house, retrieved his Glock and returned to abduct Schloss in her own vehicle. They stopped at several locations, including at least one ATM where Wade withdrew cash from Schloss’ checking account.

After her disappearance when police canvassed the neighborhood, a neighbor reported hearing a woman’s screams in the early morning hours of August 4. According to court documents, this “witness observed a small red car matching generally the description of the victim’s car in the parking lot of a bank, and heard a woman’s voice in that area screaming loudly ‘Rape!’ and ‘Call the police!’ or words to that effect.” Although the court documents do not specify, it seems, sadly, that no witnesses contacted police that night with this information.

After Wade was done robbing Schloss, he drove her nearly an hour away to Wasilia, Alaska, where he marched an abused and tortured Schloss into the woods and unceremoniously executed her.

It took nearly a month before her decomposed remains were discovered.

Chinese dungeon where father secretly kept six women as ‘sex slaves’ and forced them to fight to death (Dailymail)

  • Li Hao, 35, was found guilty of murder, rape, organised prostitution, illegal detention and spreading pornography for profit
  • Two of the six were found dead when a 23-year-old woman escaped and led police to the basement
  • He instructed three women to kill two of the other captives
  • Li, a married man with a infant son, hid his secret life from his wife.
  • Li was sentenced to death Friday November 30, 2012

The gruesome set up of the basement dungeon in China where a married father secretly held six women as sex slaves has been revealed.

Li Hao, 35, from Henan province, was sentenced to death last week (Friday) for keeping the women in his grim tiny cellar and for his role in the murder of two of them

The local government clerk was convicted on charges including murder, rape, organised prostitution and illegal detention, state-run media outlet Xinhua has reported.

A court heard how he built a dungeon in his basement where he forced the women to work as prostitutes.

Police were quoted as saying that Li coerced them to kill two others who had been forced to work as sex slaves alongside them.

Three of the women he held were given leniency for their role in the two murders.

One received three years and the two others were put on probation, according to Xinhua.

Eventually, one of the women managed to escape and she went to the police.

An investigation revealed that Li created the basement in 2009 and held the women for between two to 21 months.

Chinese Sex Dungeon Death Sentence

Li Hao, 35, has been sentenced to death in China for keeping six women as ‘sex slaves’ and for his role in the murder of two of them

During their incarceration he repeatedly raped them, forced them to have sex with other men for money and made them perform in pornographic web shows.

Before they were tricked into going to Li’s dungeon, the women had all worked at nightclubs and karaoke bars.

Two of the six were found dead when a 23-year-old woman who had been kept for three months escaped while being taken out to work as a prostitute in September last year – she led police to the basement.

A lawyer in Changsha who was following the case said Li’s death sentence was predictable, but she could not agree with the verdicts for the three women.

‘I was shocked when hearing of their verdicts because they were victims in this sex-slave scandal,’ Zhang Yan told the South China Morning Post.

She had attempted to represent the women in court but says she had been refused by local authorities.

She said information released by the police indicated that all the women had suffered inconceivable mental and physical torture.

China Central Television reported earlier that Li had lured them back to his underground lair after offering to pay them for sex if they went home with him. Instead he held them captive.

The court said Li was working as a clerk for Luoyang’s technology supervision bureau when he was arrested in September last year. He was married and had an eight-month-old son, Xinhua reported.

Woman attacks boyfriend after bad sex

(CBS) BRADENTON, Fla. – A Florida woman allegedly attacked her boyfriend because he had an orgasm during sex and she did not, CBS Tampa Bay reports.

So is her arrest the anti-climax?

Esric Davis, 30, told authorities that he and Raquel Gonzalez, 24, were having sex Monday when “[he] climaxed and Raquel did not.”

“At that time, she became upset and began hitting and scratching him, causing scratches near his eye and nose,” according to documents from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.  “[Davis] also stated that this is not the first time she has been physical with him, and that she… ‘goes off’ frequently.”

Davis blamed Gonzalez’s aggression on personal issues rooted in her reportedly troubled past. The Smoking Gun learned that alcohol may have also been a part of the equation.

Gonzalez also claimed injury to police.

“I have scratches on me too from where he tried to restrain me when I lost it,” she was quoted as saying in the incident report.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with felony domestic battery and remanded to the Manatee County jail, according to the Georgia Daily News.

Human Skull

11/21/12 SWEDAN —

A woman in southwestern Sweden took “boning” to a new level, police contend, and may face up to two years in the slammer.

The 37-year-old woman is accused of necrophilia and was formally charged on Tuesday at the Gothenburg District Court for the crime of “violating the peace of the dead.”

Police were initially notified that a gunshot had been fired from the woman’s apartment in September, which led to the alleged discovery of 100 skeleton parts in her apartment.

While searching her home, the police reportedly also found a CD titled “My Necrophilia” as well as photographs in which a woman is shown being intimate with the skeleton’s parts, including licking a skull, according to the Swedish news agency TT.

However, the woman has denied the charges, claiming she collected the bones out of historical interest, according to the AP.

Horror as supermarket worker gets arm stuck in a MEAT GRINDER

Gruesome: Authorities were called to an Illinois supermarket to rescue a man whose arm was stuck in a meat grinder.

Gruesome: Authorities were called to an Illinois supermarket to rescue a man whose arm was stuck in a meat grinder

A gruesome scene unfolded at a local Illinois supermarket when authorities were called in to rescue a man who got his arm stuck in a meat grinder.

When members of the Orland Park Fire Department arrived at the scene of the grisly accident, they were shocked to discover a middle-aged store employee with more than half his arm caught in the machine.

Battalion chief Mike Schofield told ABC News that in his 35 years at the department, he had ‘never seen anything like this, other thank watching T.V. shows.’

Though apt, based on witness accounts, it seems that ‘horror movie’ would be a better comparison.

According to Schofield, the man’s was caught so deeply in the gears of the machine that first responders were unable to remove his arm even after dismantling some of the device.

They were hesitant to take apart the entire machine any more for fear of taking off part of his arm.

While the victim was clearly in immense pain, Schofield explained that there wasn’t very much blood at the scene, because the grinder apparently cut of much of the circulation in his arm.

“There wasn’t a lot of blood because his hand was so tight in the meat grinder it almost acted like a tourniquet,” Schofield said.

Realizing that not much more could be done at the supermarket, paramedics took the man to the hospital with part of the device still attached to his arm.

Once there, they decided the only way to extricate the man’s arms from the grinder was by using what Schofield described as a miniature version of the Jaws of Life, the same tool firefighters use to shear through car doors and other metal objects.

“There’s a miniature hydraulic tool that we use to extract smaller items,’ he said. ‘It’s like the jaws of life but it’s a smaller version, so we used it to cut the metal apart and peel back the grinder. That took approximately 20 minutes to do.’

Crushed: Paramedics and doctors had to use a miniature version of the Jaws of Life to cut through the meat grinder.

Crushed: Paramedics and doctors had to use a miniature version of the Jaws of Life to cut through the meat grinder.

Schofield said that during the process the man remained relatively calm, despite being in a great deal of pain.

“He was just praying. He was pretty sedated, but he was still in pain,” he said. “We had two paramedics constantly talking to him, reassuring him. We explained every step we were going to do. He was able to tell us when it hurt too much and we were able to back off and the doctors were providing pain medicine for him.”

After firefighters and doctors managed to get the grinder off, pressure returned to the man’s arm and he began bleeding profusely. He was quickly taken of to surgery to repair the damage.

Schofield said that the man’s arm was ‘OK’ but guessed that his hand would be heavily damaged. There were no more updates on the man’s condition.

Bizarre Love Triangle With A Surprising Ending

Brian Barrett

Pictured: Brian Barrett a.k.a “beefcake”

On Friday, September 15, 2006, just outside Buffalo, N.Y., Brian Barrett’s shift at the Dynabrade power tool plant ended at 10 p.m. He climbed into his truck to head home, but before he could slip his key into the ignition, someone shot him at close range with a .30-caliber rifle. Three bullets passed through his driver’s side window, hitting him in the arm and neck.

He died almost instantly, but it would be two days before a coworker would notice his body still in the truck in the parking lot on Monday morning.

Erie County Sheriff’s deputies dispatched to the scene at 8989 Sheridan Drive in the Buffalo suburb of Clarence talked to locals. They reported hearing gunshots and seeing a man wearing camouflage and a ski mask. Near Barrett’s truck officers found a peach pit and a leather cartridge case covered with what was later determined to be dog hair.

Once the investigators talked to a few coworkers at the factory where Barrett had been working part-time for the last four years, the outline of a likely scenario quickly came into focus. The 22-year-old seemed to have become the victim of a bizarre love triangle: He was likely killed by a man pretending to be someone he was not, obsessed with a woman pretending to be someone she was not.

And almost all of it, until the bloody final act, had happened online.

Map of New York State with Buffalo locator

Daniel Barrett still does not understand how his son ended up a victim. The death of young Brian Barrett certainly shocked his family and friends.

Barrett had been a good kid and a star athlete. He had been on the football team too, but baseball was his game. The former third baseman still holds his high school’s record for the longest home run. His old coach, Starpoint High School Athletic Director Tom Sarkovics, says he never heard anyone say a negative word about the guy.

After high school, Barrett played ball in the Midget League and was voted Most Valuable Player. But by then it was just a game for him: He went to work at a machine shop as soon as he graduated in June 2002. He saved up enough money to buy his Ford Ranger, but then in December he was laid off.

That disappointment prompted him to reconsider college. He enrolled at Erie Community College, and found a job at Dynabrade at the same time. Once he got his two-year associate degree, he transferred to Buffalo State College, where he was studying to become an industrial arts teacher at the time of his murder.

His life was just starting. Barrett still lived with his parents, Dan and Deb Barrett, on Minnick Road in nearby Lockport, in the childhood room decorated with his sports trophies, posters and photos of him with his younger brothers, Daniel and Richard.

His grandfather, Harry Barrett called him Lurch. Barrett was tall and strong, but shy, just finding his footing in the world. He’d started camping and traveling, seeing a little of the world outside the Buffalo area. Earlier in 2006, he’d gone to North Carolina on a camping trip. While there, he tried sky diving for the first time, he told his parents about this only after the jump, afraid that they’d worry about him if they knew.

But it turned out that the mortal danger would come from one of Barrett’s coworkers, Thomas Montgomery.

“Tommy” Montgomery was an 18-year-old Marine about to be deployed to Iraq. He described himself online as 6’2, 180 pounds. He said he had a black belt in karate and that he already sported an array of battle scars.

He met a 17-year-old girl from West Virginia, Jessi, on the game site Pogo.com in the spring of 2005. He told her his mom had died of cancer when he was twelve. She sympathized, and he opened up. He had raped a cheerleader in high school, he said, but then had turned himself around and followed his dad, Tommy Sr., into the Marines.

Pictured: “Jessi” a.k.a “Tallhotblond”

Tommy and Jessi spent more and more time chatting online on Pogo, MySpace and Yahoo. They even scheduled 10-minute phone conversations each day, before and after Tommy’s military duties. When Tommy was in Iraq, his father passed messages and photos between the two, through his Marine contacts.

Tommy got jealous when he started suspecting that Jessi was sending her photos to other men online too. To make it up to him, she sent him one of her thongs and a silver chain. Tommy calmed down and forgave herbut Tommy Sr. stepped in and sternly warned her not to hurt his sensitive, inexperienced son.

Still, he kept relaying their messages. When Tommy considered suicide in Iraq, Jessi kept him going. He said she was the best thing that ever happened to him. She sent him some custom-made dogtags. He tattooed her name on his arm.

And on Christmas Day, 2005, Tommy asked Jessi to marry him. She said yes. They’d never even met.

If they had, Jessi and Tommy would both have realized that nearly everything that they had told each other was a lie.
